Call for Submissions: Arts & Literature Review

A celebration of the northern Berkshire natural and working landscapes through literature and art

Rural Lands is pleased to partner with Tupelo Press to produce an inaugural volume on art and literature centered on northern Berkshire natural and working landscapes.

We invite submissions by writers, photographers and fine artists (whether just emerging, professional, or anywhere in between) of essays, poems, and visual art work that may inspire the rest of us to see and sense a familiar place through a different lens. Work will be chosen on the basis that it artistically encourages appreciation for, and lends an understanding of, our glorious landscape. We seek submissions from all sorts of folk.

Guidelines

We encourage new work, but if the work has been previously published in book form, it is the responsibility of the creator to secure copyright release from the publisher. We can accept your piece under the following guidelines. We may propose revisions.

Essays

Submit one essay for consideration, up to 1500 words. Please submit it in a Word document.

Poems

Submit up to three poems for consideration. Poems may be up to 32 lines.

Artwork

Submit photos of up to three pieces of artwork for consideration, each with a detailed caption and creator name. Submit a digital photo in a file less than 3MB. A high-resolution photo will be requested for publication if selected.

Details

Submissions from Northern Berkshire writers and artists will be accepted through midnight, August 31, 2023. All submissions will be vetted by a jury of peers.
